Southern Oregon Monthly Marketing Update - May 2020
These are crazy times. Although it can be easy to get caught up in the uncertainty of the moment, I have been impressed by the innovation and kindness around me and am thankful for all of our front line workers that continue to care for our seniors, staff the grocery store, deliver mail, and work to support the rest of us. Instead of feeling insignificant for my
limited contribution, I have decided to relish in my little successes. I feel a bit more like I matter and have a purpose when I answer the phone and talk to a lonely senior; join a virtual networking meeting to connect with other providers, or finish a home project I had put off. Magic moments are not made by big things, but more by the sum of little things coming together. The little things matter now more than ever.
We are continuing to develop CareAvailability.com and in the past month more than 200 providers have logged on to claim their listing and start reporting their availability. This site is free for all housing to report what is available, and next month we will be launching an update that will also include home health, home care, and hospice. I am thankful for the case managers at local hospitals that have personally encouraged providers to log on and use the site more. During this pandemic, we were able to adapt quickly and show if a community
was not accepting residents due to CoronaVirus. The site has helped expedite discharges from hospitals and skilled nursing to other care levels. It also helped our staff connect families with communities that were still taking new residents.
The new edition of the guide hits the streets this week. Although we are unable to distribute the guides at all the usual locations at the moment; we have had an increased demand from clinics and hospitals sharing the print guide with their patients. We have also received many requests to mail guides to families, free of charge. Due to the Covid-19, I was concerned about how many sponsors would be able to
continue advertising with us. Gratefully, I was wrong. I am honored that they trust us with their marketing dollars and am excited to work with such an amazing group of people for another year. We have delayed the Release Party until June 18th, but with the extension of the Stay at Home Order- we are unsure if the event will be possible, but will keep you updated (fingers crossed because I really miss seeing everyone).

Here are a few ways…
1)Corona Virus resource web page:
We have set up a webpage at www.RetirementConnection.com/coronavirus to offer updates on Skilled Nursing and housing closures, community resources, and other updates. Please send me any relevant
updates you feel should be included.
2)Events Calendar: We are updating
our events calendar many times each day on www.RetirementConnection.com/events. We are including the originally planned date, shown as CANCELLED and then also adding the new date to help communicate as
many updates as possible.
3)Care Availability: We have
expedited the use of a new resource we have been beta testing. www.CareAvailability.comis a free resource for hospitals, providers and families to search availability without needing to submit person details, and it is free for providers to report the housing and skilled availability. We have added the ability for communities to mark “not accepting residents due to coronavirus, and also the ability to mark if they are accepting Respite stays at this time.
4) Job Postings: We have expanded our Jobs Board to offer more position postings than typical including hourly staff and job resource link. https://retirementconnection.com/jobs

Additional Resources
There are so many resources included in Retirement Connection, that often a few may slip past you and may not be noticed. Did you know that the guide also includes:
“Find out who you are and do it on purpose. ” – Dolly Parton
During the Stay
at Home order many of us have had time to reflect (maybe more than some of us would prefer). Take some time this week to think about who you are, the person you want to be, and decide how to be the best version of that. To be successful you need to be true to yourself first.
