Mid-Willamette Valley
Monthly Marketing Update- February 2025

At our Portland Release Party last week, I heard great feedback from one of our attendees that I wanted to share… “I use the guide every day for my clients and refer to others in the guide often. Although I do see a direct ROI, I would still advertise because our community needs this resource and it helps me do my job and help others.” If you feel the same way, please help the guide continue to grow by advertising, sharing the guide with others, posting your events, or attending our networking events. We are more than just a print guide, in addition to our community networking, our websites CareAvailability.com and RetirementConnection.com
have great online traffic and are great tools to increase your online exposure.

Speaking of networking events: the Senior Service Network Meeting has had amazing attendance the past few months and provides a great opportunity to connect and share referrals with each other. Please spread the word and invite others. Tomorrow is our bi-monthly "Transitions of Care” Zoom call, and this month we will focus on the needs of providers to facilitate smoother transitions to/from the hospital. Please email me any agenda items. We typically have about 100 people join in for the short 30-minute Zoom call.

Last but not least… We are already working on the next edition of the Retirement Connection Guide for Mid-Willamette Valley, but we will have a rate increase this year due to paper costs and other distribution expenses (this is only our 2nd rate increase in 15+ years). For those who reserve their ad space this month,  we will honor the current pricing for the next edition as a thank you for planning ahead. We were excited that so many existing sponsors, as well as new sponsors already included us in their budgets. Reminder- you will be invoiced in the fall or in 2026 per your preference and your ad copy is not due until August. This is just a way to save money by planning ahead. If you know anyone that would like to be included please help us with an introduction. Retirement Connection is the only comprehensive resource guide and it is used by hospitals, physicians, the Alzheimer’s Association, Area Agencies on Aging, DHS offices, and numerous other referral sources. Since we only print once a year- don’t miss out.

Nugget Of Knowledge
"It doesn't happen all at once, " said the Skin Horse. "You become.
It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand." ~ Velveteen Rabbit

This is one of my favorite quotes of all time and was one of the readings at my wedding. I love the idea that to be "real" it takes much time and you have been worn out. The word "real" can mean so many different things when you take it out of the context of stuffed animals and into our daily lives. Sometimes real can also be messy, but the authenticity is worth it.
